Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information RECAP ("RECAP," "we," "us") collects through recapeditor.app, why we collect it, and the choices you have. RECAP is currently in early development — this site is a marketing page and an early-access waitlist, and does not host or process your video footage.

Information we collect

We collect information in two ways: what you give us directly, and basic technical data collected automatically.

• Waitlist information. When you sign up for early access, we collect your email address, the creator type you select (e.g. YouTube, TikTok, podcast), and whether you checked the box opting in to being contacted for a short interview about your workflow.
• Contact information. If you email us directly, we retain that correspondence to respond to you.
• Usage data. We collect basic, aggregated product-analytics events (such as which pages are viewed or which buttons are clicked) to understand how the site is used. This is described further under "Analytics" below.
• Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps for security and reliability purposes.

How we use information

• To contact you about early access and product updates, and, if you opted in, to ask about your workflow as part of user research.
• To understand aggregate usage of the site so we can improve it.
• To respond to support or contact requests.
• To maintain the security and reliability of the site.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your waitlist email for advertising or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers who help us operate the site and the waitlist — for example, email delivery and product-analytics providers — and only to the extent needed for them to perform that service. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of RECAP or others.

Analytics

We track a small set of product events (page views, waitlist interactions, and similar) to understand how the site is used. This is implemented behind a provider-agnostic interface, meaning the underlying analytics tool may change over time; regardless of provider, we only use this data in aggregate to understand and improve the product, not to build advertising profiles.

Cookies

We do not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we introduce cookies for functionality or analytics in the future, we'll update this policy to describe what's used and why.

Data retention

We retain waitlist and contact information for as long as needed to run the early-access waitlist and contact you about it, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you at any time, and you can unsubscribe from early-access communications via any email we send or by contacting us directly. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; we'll honor applicable requests regardless of location.

Children's privacy

RECAP is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

International users

We may process and store information in countries other than the one you live in. Wherever it's processed, we apply the protections described in this policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves, particularly as we move from an early-access waitlist into a full product. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do, and for material changes we'll take reasonable steps to let you know.
